reading diary...

We were chatting on this topic.. "would it be a bad or terrible for parents to read their children diaries or phone msgs??" violation of privacy..
~~~~~
To some, "Until you can earn your own living and stay independent then you may have tt privacy." Obviously this person is not a very young person lar :D
~~~~~
Some feels that is it very inappropriate to do so coz children/teen needs their own space also. They have their rights as a human being...
~~~~~
So how?
~~~~~
I think it is a violation of privacy if parents reads their children diaries or phone msgs... but it is necessary action depending on maturity.. yes, maturity.... Should you feel that your children is not mature enough, then i think we should do what is necessary to protect them.. until they can protect themselves... why do i say so??
~~~~~
I'm sure you heard of things like young girls being black mailed by ppl they know from the net and suffering such torture for month or even years... if a parents have noticed her diary (if she had one) or phone msg, definitely these young ladies will not have to go through hell for so long... It is our responsibility, as parents, to protect our children..
~~~~~
It is also a matter of trust. If a child is responsible, accountable and wise (having fear the Lord more than man.) we as parents find no reason to read our children's diaries or they phone msgs.. (wht? you think we (parents) all so free ah?? wanna poke our nose into everything? and i mean EVERYTHING??)
~~~~~
I may be controlling now but i do understand as we grow older we are to be trusted with our own privacy, but that trust must be earned, don't you agree? So we (i was young before too) will appreciate that trust and not take it for granted...
~~~~~
Know that once trust is broken, it is very hard (and i mean VERY HARD) to earn it back from the same person.. so... choose your decision wisely....
~~~~~
That's why for some kids it is necessary to do so, some..well done! You have earned your trust.
~~~~~
Conclusion is... know our children well so then we know what to do with their diaries and phone msgs ;P HA!
